PRIVACY
Privacy policy
This explains what we do with your information when you use this website or get in touch with us. We have tried to keep it short and in plain English.
LAST UPDATED 2 OCTOBER 2026
Who we are
The Pack Horse is a village pub at 4 Lincoln Road, Northborough, Peterborough PE6 9BL, run by Sixtynine Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 14947964). We are the data controller for the information described here, which means we are responsible for how it is used.
If you have any question about this policy, or about the information we hold on you, ring us on 01733 913155 or email info@the-packhorse.co.uk.
When you use the contact form
If you send us a message through the form on our contact page, we ask for your name, your email address, an optional phone number and your message.
We use it for one thing: to read your message and reply to it. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing.
- What we collect
- Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and what you write in the message box.
- Why
- To answer your enquiry. If you are asking about a booking or an event, to take the steps you have asked for before we agree anything.
- Lawful basis
- Our legitimate interests in running the pub and replying to people who contact us, and where you are asking us to arrange something, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- Who sees it
- The pub. Messages are carried on our behalf by our email provider, and copies may be stored by our website provider so that delivery can be verified and any faults with the form found and fixed.
- How long we keep it
- Enquiry emails are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted, unless the message has become a booking or an ongoing conversation, in which case we keep it as long as we need it.
Stopping spam through the form
So that automated scripts cannot flood the form, we count how many messages come from the same internet connection in a ten minute period.
We do not store your IP address to do this. The address is turned into a one-way code that cannot be turned back into an address, and all that is kept against it is the time each message was sent. Those times are discarded after ten minutes.
The contact form is also checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, a service from Cloudflare, Inc. that tells people from automated scripts. When you open the contact page, your browser loads it from Cloudflare, which looks at your IP address and technical details of your browser and device. Most people never see it; now and then it asks you to tick a box.
Cloudflare uses this information only to tell people from bots and to improve that check, not to identify you, build a profile of you or target advertising at you. Cloudflare is based in the United States and may process the information there, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires. The lawful basis is our legitimate interests in keeping the form free of spam.
If you join our mailing list
If you sign up for our newsletter, we use your email address to send you news about what is on at the pub. You are asked for it, we never add anyone who has not asked, and you can unsubscribe from any email we send.
Our mailing list is run for us by Constant Contact, who are based in the United States, so your email address is stored there. They handle it under the safeguards required by UK data protection law.
The lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw that at any time by using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us, and we will stop.
Website logs
Like almost every website, our web server keeps a short technical record of requests made to it, which includes the IP address the request came from, the page asked for, the time and the browser used.
These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and to investigate problems. Nobody uses them to build a profile of you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interests in keeping our website working and protected, and the logs are rotated and deleted within 30 days.
When you ring, text or come in
If you book a table by phone, text or WhatsApp, we take your name, a contact number and the details of your booking so we can hold the table and let you know if anything changes. We keep booking details only as long as we need them.
WhatsApp messages are carried by WhatsApp, who handle them under their own privacy policy.
Links to other websites
Our gift vouchers are sold through GiftPro, and buying one takes you to their website, where their own privacy policy and terms apply. We do not see your card details at any point.
We also link out to Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps, what3words and a number of local history and walking websites. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, and we are not responsible for what they do with your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the following rights over the information we hold about you. They are free to use, and we will respond within one month.
- To be told what we hold and why, which is what this page is for.
- To ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- To have anything wrong corrected.
- To ask us to delete it.
- To ask us to stop using it for a while, if you think something is wrong with it.
- To ask us to hand your information to you or another organisation in a portable form, where it was given with your consent.
- To withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on, such as the mailing list.
Your right to object
You have the right to object to us using your information where we rely on our legitimate interests, which covers enquiries sent through the contact form and our website logs. Tell us and we will stop, unless we have a compelling reason not to that overrides your rights.
You also have an absolute right to object to your information being used for direct marketing. If you say stop, we stop, with no questions asked. Email info@the-packhorse.co.uk or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
If you are unhappy
Please come to us first and we will do our best to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection. They can be reached at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We review this page when anything about the website changes. This version is dated 2 October 2026.
